Overview

No previous directing or acting experience necessary; interest in theatre, writing, directing and design required. Participants may be expected to take part as actors in the workshop.

In this lecture/demonstration writer, actor, and director Mikel Murfi talks about his work and influences, with particular reference to his works with writer/director Enda Walsh, Cillian Murphy and designer Sabine Dargent. He also examines the nature of creativity and talks about his practice as a director and writer - the techniques he uses to help actors create more freely, to prepare them for the rehearsal room. It's a fluid wide ranging discussion followed by a question-and-answer session and maybe even some participation.
