Overview

This lively talk explores the many “stages” of performance, from conceptual ideas to the practice room to the stage and after the performance. Through Liz’s reflections on various performances throughout her career—some transformational, humorous and even frightening!—she will dive into the process of putting various kinds of shows together, small and large, from concerts to theatrical productions. She will also share some thoughts about developing concert programs and show ideas, the importance of productive rehearsal, sound checks, the many faces of collaboration, networking, and of course, touch on that wonderful topic of “stage fright.” This talk will be useful for any musician at any level but also will be an informative and interesting look “behind the curtain” for anyone who enjoys being in the audience!

Exploring the Art of Performance is the third of a three-part live workshop series on the topics of practice, listening and performance, originally created with Music Network Ireland as an interactive professional development series for musicians.
