Open Day is open! We have opened up capacity—walk ins are welcome today. Come on over and join the festivities.


Every St. Patrick’s season, IAC invites our community to a free day of Irish arts and culture, with traditional music and dance performances, workshops and demos, children’s crafts and activities, and a sampling of our multidisciplinary educational offerings.

THE DEVLIN CAFE // ALL SETS WILL RUN FOR 45 MINS

11:45am: Irish music performance // Donie Carroll and James Keane
12:45pm: Irish music performance // Zohra Coday, Barry Ó Séanáin, and Ciara O’Shea
1:45pm: Irish music performance // Matt Stapleton and Autumn Rhodes
2:45pm: Irish music performance // John Morrow and Katie Linnane, featuring JiGGiG Irish dance entertainment dancers Andy O'Reilly and Joe Harrison

THEATRE // ALL SETS WILL RUN FOR 45 MINS

12pm: Irish music performance // IAC’s Community Céilí Band
1pm: Irish step dance performance and demo with Darrah Carr Dance // featuring Laura Neese and Alexandra Williamson with live accompaniment Donie Carroll and James Keane
2:15pm: City Stompers:  Flatfoot and clogging dance and music performance
3pm: Social dances of Ireland and the U.S. // Learn céilí and square dances with Megan Downes, featuring live music by Matt Stapelton, Autumn Rhodes, and City Stompers

STUDIO CLASSROOM

Celebrate Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon and the premiere of feature length film Puffin Rock and the New Friends. Puffin Rock and the New Friends is premiering at the NY International Children's Film Festival.

12pm–3pm: Visit our “How to Draw” stations throughout the day!

12:15-12:45pm: Sample class // Intro to Irish language for kids with Caoimhe Nic Giollarnáith, one of IAC’s resident Irish teachers
1-1:30pm: Sample class // Intro to Irish language for adults with Caoimhe Nic Giollarnáith, one of IAC’s resident Irish teachers
1:45-2:30pm: Music education sampler 1 // Learn about, and listen to the fiddle, tin whistle and bodhrán with IAC resident music teachers James Cleveland (fiddle), Kieran McCarthy Fell (tin whistle and flute), and Siobhan Egan-Moore (bodhrán)
2:45-3:30pm: Music education sampler 2 // Learn about, and listen to the tin whistle and bodhrán with IAC resident music teachers Kieran McCarthy Fell (tin whistle and flute) and Siobhan Egan-Moore (bodhrán)
