Overview

Shrines, moniker of Brooklyn-based singer and musician Carrie Erving (Ponyhof, Will Butler of Arcade Fire), played one of the final live concerts of our spring 2020 season, a show co-presented by Irish Arts Center and Brooklyn's National Sawdust.

The artist, whose sound has been called "spellbinding" by the New York Times and has drawn comparisons to Björk, Sinead O’Connor and Sylvan Esso, now brings us new work created during isolation: her forthcoming EP, Our Ship is Ready, is a collection of the artist's modern re-imaginings of traditional folk ballads, which she learned while living in Ireland from a group of renowned singers including Iarla Ó Lionáird and Karan Casey. Following the April 16 release, we invite you to join us for the launch party on May 7—a livestream performance by Shrines, accompanied by cellist Chris Loxley.
