Our fall 2021 term will be held online.

This class will be conducted via Zoom. Upon registration, you will receive a link to, and instructions for, downloading the free program. Laptop, desk computer, or tablet with video and audio ability is required.

Overview

Anne Johnson, Mondays, 6pm—7pm

8 weekly sessions beginning September 20

This course will begin with a review of basic chord progressions and continue with more advanced approaches to using chords, writing counterpoint, and accompanying melodies in major, minor, Mixolydian, and Dorian. We will also discuss modulation and transposition.

Students should be able to recognize major and minor keys, plus be familiar with triads, dominant seventh chords, and cadences. Those who are unsure which level of music theory they belong in should contact the instructor before registering.
