Keepers of the Flame

Diarmaid Ferriter is Professor of Modern Irish History at UCD. His books include The Transformation of Ireland 1900-2000 (2004), Occasions of Sin: Sex and Society in Modern Ireland (2009), Ambiguous Republic: Ireland in the 1970s (2012), A Nation and not a Rabble: The Irish Revolution 1913-23 (2015), On The Edge: Ireland’s Offshore Islands, A Modern History (2018) and The Border: The Legacy of a Century of Anglo-Irish History (2019). He is a regular broadcaster on television and radio, and a weekly columnist with the Irish Times.

Dr. Miriam Nyhan Grey has been based at New York University's Glucksman Ireland House since 2008, having completed her PhD at the European University Institute in Florence. She has an interest in the history of intersections of migration, race and ethnicity and has been the originator of approximately one-third of the oral histories preserved at the Archives of Irish America at New York University. In 2016, she edited Ireland's Allies: America and the 1916 Easter Rising (UCD Press, Dublin). Currently, Miriam is collecting a cluster of oral histories with Black and Brown Irish Americans. 

Nuala O’Connor is a writer, producer, researcher, and documentary filmmaker. In 1987, she established Hummingbird Productions with Phillip King to produce documentaries specialized in the area of music and arts. With Phillip King, she worked as producer and writer on the BBC’s Bringing it All Back Home and is the author of the book which accompanied the series. In 1994, Nuala won a Prime Time Emmy Award for her writing of a one-hour version of Bringing it All Back Home for the Disney Channel. Her other film and television credits include The Limits of Liberty (2010), An Gloach - The President’s Call (2013), From Moment to Moment (2013), Ceiliuradh (2014), and Keepers of the Flame (2017).
