Overview
Presented by Irish Arts Center and National Sawdust
As part of National Sawdust’s Irish Origins Series
“His voice will astound you. It soars—and it’s as profound, simple and beautiful as wild horses... Count yourself lucky to hear an artist like this once in your lifetime.” — Time Out New York on Iarla Ó Lionáird
“Ferocious, focused performances.” — The New York Times on Contemporaneous
Legendary sean-nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird (The Gloaming, Ghost Trio) and the New York-based ensemble Contemporaneous join forces to perform work by Irish American composer Dan Trueman and Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy (The Hunger, The Last Hotel).
Pianist Isabelle O’Connell will open the evening with music from some of the most renowned Irish composers living today. We open the floor to conversation about the development of Irish American music with input from our guest composers.
