Overview

Off the coast of West Clare lies Cill Stuifín, a village long believed to have been swallowed by the sea—some say by a freak wave, others by an ancient curse. In this cinematic documentary, folklorist Aindrias de Staic follows in his late father’s footsteps to uncover the truth behind the legend. As haunting stories collide with scientific discovery, geologists reveal evidence of a cataclysmic event, while big-wave surfers confront the powerful reef that guards its secrets. Blending Irish folklore, marine science and the raw energy of the Atlantic, Cill Stuifín explores the mystery of a lost village and the urgent warning it holds in the face of climate change and rising seas.
