Overview

This year’s Oíche Shamhna (EE-huh hownah) celebrates Samhain (SOW-in), the ancient Celtic festival that inspired the modern-day holiday of Halloween, with a nod to the mysterious, mystical, and misunderstood cats of Ireland.

Through music, dance, storytelling, and crafts, we will learn about Cat Sìth, the spooky fairy cat; Pangur Bán, the loyal monk’s companion; and the infamous black cat of lore.

“At this Irish Halloween celebration, kids can learn about the spooky traditions indigenous to the Emerald Isle”—TIME OUT NEW YORK
