Overview

Jazz music thrums with the influence of gospel and the blues, from artists like Bessie Smith, Mahalia Jackson, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Andy Bey, and others. This installment of Tobin’s Run on 51 travels the terrain forged by the three genres, taking the audience from the crossroads to the pulpit and beyond.
