Overview
Slow airs are a very popular part of the Irish music repertory, but seldom make it into the classroom. Without the familiar beat of a jig or reel, the slow air takes a lot of listening and interpreting to really get a feel for its lonesome melody. Delve into the art of slow air playing with All-Ireland slow air champion Christina Dolphin. This class will explore the history and context of slow airs, the importance of listening to the singer, and how to interpret the human voice on your instrument. Open to all instruments.
