Overview

"As old, pleasant, zen-like dogs often do, she had a thing or two to teach me about attention, about focus, about contentment. She had a particular quality of stillness that swept the whole room into its arc, and under its spell. The poem...attempts to capture that movement, from noise and business to stillness and and quietness, the kind of conversion we've all been making during the past few weeks."

Vona Groarke introduces "This Being Still," a piece born from the time spent with her pup, Judy, in residence at the Heinrich Böll Cottage on Achill Island, and read for our PoetryFest audience in 2018.
