Overview

Anne Johnson, Thursdays, 7pm—8pm

8 weekly sessions beginning April 16

This course is for students who have completed Introduction to Music Theory or who have some other basic background in the subject. We'll begin with a quick review of major and minor keys, modes, intervals and triads, and progress to sevenths and other chords using chords within the context of a key (chord progressions). We will also learn how modes affect the accompaniment of tunes and songs, and practice the basic elements of writing and improvising counterpoint.
