Overview

Irish Arts Center presents
Mary x Maeve: Mary Lavin, Maeve Brennan, and The New Yorker
In association with New Island Books

With a post-event reception sponsored by Glucksman Ireland House and Charleston Literary Festival

Join us to celebrate the work and lives of two of Irish America's brilliant 20th-century literary figures, Mary Lavin and Maeve Brennan. Gráinne Hurley and Belinda McKeon join us in conversation with moderator Cressida Leyshon for the launch of two new works from New Island Books. An Asylum for My Affections: Sketches of Maeve Brennan, edited by Molly Hennigan, is an anthology of new essays by ten contemporary Irish writers exploring the themes and impact of Maeve Brennan's work and life, and Gratefully and Affectionately: Mary Lavin and The New Yorker, by Gráinne Hurley, which details Mary Lavin's 18-year working relationship with The New Yorker.

Presented with generous support from Culture Ireland, New Island Books, Glucksman Ireland House, and Charleston Literary Festival.
