Malaprop: HOTHOUSE

Peter has just finished filming a regular role in season two of AppleTV’s  BAD SISTERS for Merman. He can be seen in THE VANISHING TRIANGLE opposite India Mullen and Alan Leech on Acorn, and FLORA & SON, written and directed by John Carney, also for Apple. He has extensive stage experience, including MULTIPLE CASUALTY INCIDENT at the Yard Theatre, ULYSSES at Jermyn Street Theatre,  MOON LICKS for Paines Plough, and  MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING  for Rough Magic.

Thommas Kane Byrne has recently filmed season two of THE DRY, directed by Paddy Breathnach for Element Pictures and Britbox. Just prior he filmed the role of Jed alongside Philip Glenister in BLACK CAB directed by Diarmuid Goggins for Story Films and Channel 5. Further credits include the final season of Derry Girls; the role of Francis ‘Fudge’ Flynn alongside Ciarán Hinds and Charlie Cox in KIN, directed by Diarmuid Goggins; and the role of Kevin alongside Angeline Ball and Victoria Smurfit in Rachel Carey’s Screen Ireland-backed feature DEADLY CUTS. Thommas also played the role of Bobby 'Butsy’ Butler in DARKLANDS directed by Mark O'Connor for Virgin Media 1, and the role of Bertie Mulgrew in Deadpan Pictures’ 6-part period television drama series DEAD STILL, directed by Imogen Murphy. On stage his most recent credits include HOTHOUSE directed by Claire O'Reilly for Malaprop Theatre Co and the single-hander THE HAIRCUT directed by Wayne Jordan for Dublin Theatre Festival.

Bláithín Mac Gabhann most recently played Rose in Brian Friel’s DANCING AT LUGHNASA, directed by Josie Rourke at the National Theatre, London. Bláithín also performed in HOTHOUSE directed by Claire O’Reilly for Malaprop Theatre Co. 

Bláithín won Best Supporting Actress at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards (June 2022) for their performance in Nancy Harris’s OUR NEW GIRL directed by Annabelle Comyn for the Gate Theatre, and for their role as Mary (Masha) in Thomas Kilroy’s THE SEAGULL (after Chekhov) directed by Garry Hynes for Druid Theatre Co. 

Further credits include the role of Sharon Reid alongside Desmond Eastwood in the TV series HIDDEN ASSETS, directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan; F in WHERE SAT THE LOVERS, directed by Claire O’Reilly for Malaprop Theatre Co.; the Outsider in THE WAY OUT, directed by Suri Krishnamma as part of the Performance Live collaboration between the BBC, Arts Council England, and BAC; PENANCE directed by Maurice Sweeney for Channel 5; and NORMAL PEOPLE directed by Lenny Abrahamson and Hettie Macdonald.

Maeve is a theatre-maker, performer, and a founding member of MALAPROP. She recently performed in Club Salty, a THISISPOPBABY Cabaret, and is a THISISPOPBABY Associate Artist, 2024. Screen credits include the RTÉ Storyland production of Everything Not Saved, Ripper Street, and Rebecca’s Boyfriend. 

Voice credits include BBC Radio’s Faith, Hope and Glory written by Roy Williams and directed by Pat Crumper; and narration for the RTÉ series One Day. She was a participant of the Pan Pan International Mentorship Programme (2019/2020) and holds a BA in drama and theatre studies from Trinity College Dublin.

Ebby has just wrapped filming the new Channel 5 series The School Trip in Dublin and recently filmed Moonflower Murders. Prior to training, Ebby appeared in BBC's Redwater.

Carys D. Coburn was the winner of the Verity Bargate Award 2017 for Citysong—co-produced by Soho Theatre, the Abbey Theatre, and Galway International Arts Festival. Other plays include Absent The Wrong (Best Production at Dublin Fringe 2022) and HOTHOUSE (Best Production at Dublin Fringe 2023). One of the founders of MALAPROP, their work together won acclaim for its distinctive blend of nerdiness and tenderness. Short work includes Me, Sara for the Abbey’s Priming the Canon, ALASIALIAS for Paines Plough’s Come To Where I’m From, and Our Mother, My Daughters for Draíocht Blanchardstown’s HOME Theatre. Working with young people is a major strand of their practice; they are the author of Ask Too Much of Me for the NYT ensemble (Peacock Theatre 2019); this is a room…, for Dublin Youth Theatre (Dublin Theatre Festival 2017). They are currently under commission to write HandToMouthToMouthToHand for the National Theatre’s Connections program. They are the librettist, with Annemarie NíChuirreáin, of Michael Gallen’s opera Elsewhere, which premiered on the Abbey Stage in 2021, and the sole librettist of Horse Ape Bird, an INO and Music Generation cocommission, by David Coonan. They contributed text to THISISPOPBABY’s WAKE. They were the facilitator of the inaugural WEFT Studio Group, a peer mentorship and support network for Black artists and artists of color more broadly.

Claire is an Irish theatre director based between London and Dublin. She is a co-founder of the award-winning new work collective MALAPROP Theatre.

Associate director credits include A Streetcar Named Desire (dir. Rebecca Frecknall, Phoenix Theatre 2023), and Dr. Semmelweis (dir. Tom Morris, Harold Pinter 2023). Assistant director credits include Uncle Vanya (Sonia Friedman Productions 2020) and Translations (Royal National Theatre 2019), both dir. Ian Rickson. Claire is a former resident director at the Abbey Theatre (2022—2023). She has a master's in drama directing from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (2019) and is a graduate of film and theatre at Trinity College Dublin (2015). She is currently developing a drama for young people for RTÉ.

Molly O’Cathain is a set and costume designer working across theatre, dance, and opera. She is a founding member and company designer for the award-winning MALAPROP Theatre. Her designs forMALAPROPTheatre include; HOTHOUSE, Where Sat the Lovers, Before You Say Anything, Everything Not Saved, BlackCatfishMusketeer, and LOVE+.

Caoimhe is a freelance theatre and dance producer, producing work for both young audiences and grown-ups. She is committed to giving life to high-quality theatre that is energetic, innovative, and meaningful. Caoimhe is currently producing work with companies Malaprop Theatre and Jess Rowell Dance, in addition to independent artists Dee Roycroft and Emmet Kirwan. She is an associate producer with field:arts (2024).  Selected producing credits include Malaprop’s HOTHOUSE (Dublin Fringe 2023) and Jess Rowell’s Making Waves (National Tour 2024). Upcoming credits include the premiere of Out Of This World by Jess Rowell, amelia by Dee Roycroft, and a national tour of Accents by Emmet Kirwan. In 2023 Caoimhe participated in Branar's Meitheal initiative as Emerging Producer in Residence at the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge. Previous to this, she lived and worked in Toronto, Canada (2018—2022) where she most recently held the position of people and operations manager with Luminato Festival. Before moving to Canada, Caoimhe worked primarily as a freelance stage manager with theatres and companies in Dublin such as the Gate Theatre, Smock Alley Theatre, and Fishamble. She holds a BA Hons in drama and theatre studies from Trinity College Dublin and is fluent in Irish (Gaeilge). Caoimhe is a native Irish sign language user and passionate about providing access in the arts.

Anna Clock is a composer, sound designer, writer, and dramaturg. Their work spans theatre, film, radio, installation, written texts, and live music. Their audio works have been played on Radio 4, Radio 3, Resonance FM and RTE Lyric radio. They are one half of the performance art duo 'Both'  alongside Ocean Chillingworth and were lead artist for the South London wing of ‘Hello Stranger’, the National Exhibition project for The Prague Quadrennial 2023.
