Overview
Grásta: Grace in Uncertainty
I boarded a train, I sailed on a ferry
I rode on a bus, I walked down the lane
Fingers clutching to my old mandolin
Removing my coat to protect it from rain
Returning to the ground my father had tilled
Old stones falling back into the land
Laying on my back in the old top field
Holding the stars in the palm of my hand
Inspired by the journeys taken over generations and throughout their careers, acclaimed Appalachian musician Dirk Powell collaborates with English multi-instrumentalist Mike McGoldrick (Lúnasa) on a song that seeks out the stars to guide them along the way.
Premiered April 19, 2021, as part of Carnegie Hall's Voices of Hope festival.
