Overview

Set on the coast of Ireland in the 1970s, The Boy from the Sea is the story of a baby who is discovered on the beach beside a small fishing town, as told by the locals who fall under his transfixing spell. Our Debut Voices series returns with a reading and conversation in celebration of Garrett Carr’s first full-length work of fiction.

Please note: Most ticket purchases include a copy of The Boy from the Sea

“Compulsive reading...Compassionate, lyrical and full of devilment.”—LOUISE KENNEDY (Trespasses)

The Boy from the Sea is an utterly engrossing read. Atmospheric and incredibly moving, I was captivated by the trials and triumphs of the Bonnars. A bittersweet ballad of a novel, I’ll be thinking about for a very long time.”—JAN CARSON (The Raptures)
