Celtic Harp II: Exploring Melody, Chords, and Rhythm (Spring 2020) - Online

Mia Theodoratus is a harpist, composer, and improviser. She has enjoyed working with Roscoe Mitchell, Susan Allen, Charlie Haden, Antony and the Johnsons, Baikida Carroll, Gelatin, JG Thirlwell, Lary 7 and Cormac de Barra. Her goal is to take classical sensibility and infuse it with the dynamics of free jazz, Celtic melody, and the rhythm of rock. Her performance highlights include playing in concert for President Barack Obama, a duet with Cormac de Barra at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Shakespeare’s production of Oedipus with Avery Brooks at the Acropolis of Athens, Greece, and performing at every closed dive bar in NYC. Her current collaborations include Optipus visual/sound improv group performing at the Whitney, Mana Contemporary and the Parrish Museums, the Ensemble of Seven, Adam Rudolph’s Go Organic Orchestra, and her own solo explorations. She has recorded on Sony, Sahko, Plasticville Records and Verve as well as composing for Rubicon (AMC), Million Dollar Listing (Bravo), and Flight of the Conchords (HBO).
