The Breadwinner

"I left college in 1999 and joined Cartoon Saloon in Kilkenny. After a few years working on shorts, pilots and the development of what was to become The Secret of Kells, I moved to the Czech Republic, to work on my first TV Series. This was just one of many countries that working as an animator took me to. My next port of call was Germany, where I worked on a Flash animated TV Series, called Tom, as well as freelancing on other commercial projects.

I returned to Ireland in 2003, becoming a founding member of A Man & Ink. Since then I've worked as Animation Director on TV Series such as Ish’hafan, Joe & Jack, and Puffin Rock Season 2. During this time I had the opportunity to travel as an Overseas Supervisor, visiting and working with studios in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Cambodia. It was a very challenging but worthwhile experience as an Supervisor to train and work with the talented people there.
My next challenge as Animation Direction was the Storyworld Sequence of the Feature Film The Breadwinner. It was very rewarding to work with a dedicated team to bring this part of the film to life. Currently I am working on the TV Series, Pete the Cat, as Assistant Director which will be coming to Amazon in 2019."

"I have been working in the animation industry for over 17 years. I started out in in 1999 working for Cartoon Saloon before starting my own studio then returning to Cartoon Saloon to work on their 3 feature films, Brendan and the Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and The Breadwinner and the TV series Puffin Rock.

My current position is Cartoon Saloon is Supervising Director on Pete the Cat. Prior to this I was Sequence Supervisor on the feature film The Breadwinner, supervising the Storyworld Sequence in the film which involved looking after the teams producing all artwork for the sequence, as well as liaising with the Composite Team on the final look for the sequence with the film's director."
