Overview

Presented by Irish Arts Center and Ruda Beresford Dauphin

Join us for this engrossing literary salon featuring a panel of writers who have spent their careers researching and documenting the lives of some of the most important people of our time. Panelists include Martin Amis (The Rub of Time), Patrick Hunt (Hannibal), and Gareth Russell (Young and Damned and Fair: The Life of Catherine Howard, Fifth Wife of King Henry VIII). Patrick Connolly of AMC/Sundance moderates.

The evening, a throwback to old New York's storied literary gatherings, will include a musical performance by Ellen McCourt, mingling with the panelists and fellow guests, book signings, and food and drink.

About Pen, Paper, and Palate
“This semiannual salon hosts big-name authors, often all writing in the same genre, to talk over the finer points of their work.”—Time Out New York

Praise for The Rub of Time
"Amis at his considered best, witty, erudite and unafraid ... This collection is full of treasures."—The Guardian

Advance praise for Hannibal
“A thrilling page-turner about one of history’s most brilliant strategists and tacticians.”—Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Praise for Young and Damned and Fair
“A stunning reappraisal…Catherine is given a makeover so complete that she is virtually unrecognisable from the hopelessly naïve girl of the traditional history books.”—Sunday Times (UK)

Lineup is subject to change.

This series is indebted to the invaluable partnership with BBC host and Booker Prize judge Frank Delaney and carries on in his memory.
