Cultural Immigrant Initiative at P.S. 69Q

A city-supported dance residency for grade school students in Jackson Heights, Queens

Thank you to Council Member Daniel Dromm for awarding Irish Arts Center a Cultural Immigrant Initiative grant to return to P.S. 69Q in Jackson Heights, Queens, this spring for an Irish dance residency!

After being in residence in the school from January to March, we continued to provide weekly dance classes online for 180 students in the second, third, and fourth grades through June.

Special thanks to our P.S. 69Q school liaison, Deborah Strack Cregan, and to teaching artists Jonathan Matthews and Michelle Esch of Darrah Carr Dance, for adapting our program for the new digital sphere and ensuring NYC kids can keep on dancing.
